WAR IN SLOVENIA (June 25 – July 05, 1991)

On June 25, 1991, Slovenia and Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia. The Serb-dominated Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) invaded both countries in an attempt to save crumbling Yugoslavia. During the ten-day war Slovenian forces defeated the JNA, largely due to the fact that most of the JNA was engaged in fierce fighting in Croatia.
